The Groundbreaking Ceremony for the new CREAM (Cooperative for Real Education in Agricultural Management) barn was held on April 15th at 10:00 am at UVM's Miller Farm located at 500 Spear Street in South Burlington, VT. The Dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Tom Vogelmann introduced Chuck Ross, VT Secretary of Agriculture, who spoke about the importance of a new facility for education and research at UVM, attracting students who represent the future of agriculture and the future of dairy in the state. Interim Chair of the Dept. of Animal and Veterinary Sciences, David Kerr, spoke about what a great day it is for Animal and Veterinary Sciences to break ground on two new barns; the CREAM barn and a research barn. CREAM student, Eleni Casseri then spoke on how the farm has become a sanctuary from the stress of college classes and how she enjoys hugging a heifer when she gets to the farm.
