Ben GreeneBen Green

Ph.D., University of Vermont
B.S., Colby College

Originally from Kingston, Massachusetts, Ben received his Bachelor's Degree in Biology from Colby College and worked on his Ph.D. with Dr. David Kerr. Ben's research focused on the bovine immune response in relation to mastitis infection with an emphasis on epigenetics.

In July of 2014 Ben defended his Ph.D. dissertation entitled "An investigation of epigenetic contributions to inter-animal and age dependent variation in the bovine innate immune response." He is now conducting post-doctoral studies in Carmen Marsit's lab at Dartmouth Medical School in Hanover, NH.

Sukumar KandasamySukumar Kandasamy

Ph.D., University of Vermont
M.V.Sc., Tami Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, India
B.V.Sc., Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, India

Sukumar received his Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Science in 2002 from the Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University in India. He completed his Master's Degree in Animal Biotechnology from the same university in 2004. Sukumar worked as a research assistant for two and a half years in a research project funded by the Indian Veterinary Research Institutes Department of Biotechnology. He joined UVM as a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Animal Science in the fall of 2006. His research focused on the study of immune response of cows to mastitis infection and explored the host pathogen interaction in mastitis infection.

During the summer of 2011, Sukumar successfully presented his dissertation, "Between-cow variation in dermal fibroblast production of markers of innate immune response is associated with outcome of Escherichia coli mastitis." Sukumar is currently a Post Doctoral student at The University of Ohio.
