The National Aquarium in Baltimore is proud to offer college internships year round in sixteen different areas of the Aquarium.  The Intern Program provides a hands-on and minds-on experience that is a vital part of the college career.  Students supplement and   apply their classroom knowledge, obtain valuable job experience, and establish personal contacts.

Interns are required to work a minimum of 120 unpaid hours and to be registered for college credit in an off campus experience, internship, cooperative education or independent study program.

Internship Descriptions:

Aquarist:  Interns assist in the care of invertebrates and fish.  These duties include tank maintenance and cleaning, diet preparation and  feeding, cleaning back-up areas and record keeping.  Junior or senior.

Aviculture:  Interns assist in caring for birds in the South American Rain Forest exhibit.  Duties include cleaning exhibit and back-up areas, diet preparation and distribution, record keeping and general maintenance.

Herpetology:  Interns assist in caring for reptiles and amphobians in the South American Rain Forest exhibit.  Duties include cleaning exhibit and back-up tanks, distrubuting diets, observation, and record keeping.

Marine Mammal Training:  Assist in the daily care of the marine mammals.  Duties include diet preparations, cleaning and maintenace of exhibit and back-up areas, behavioral observation and record keeping.  Large animal experience is highly desirable. Junior or senior.
