Chimps Inc. is a nonprofit, 501(C)(3) wildlife sanctuary dedicated to furthering chimpanzee conservation through education. It was founded by Lesley Day in 1995 in response to the multitude of captive chimpanzees desperately in need of homes. Their sanctuary is located in rural Bend, Oregon. It is situated in a quiet, peaceful setting not far from the beautiful Three Sisters Mountains. Bend is typical of the high desert with the sun shining nearly every day.

The internship program at Chimps Incorporated is an opportunity for young adults to gain practical work experience that complements their academic experience and passion for captive animal care and conservation. Chimps Inc., believes that education leads to self improvement and recognizes that the skills and knowledge of its interns are critical to its own success as well as their own personal aspirations.

It is their goal that students leave Chimps Inc. having learned from and participated in many different sanctuary experiences. These include things such as captive animal care, fundraising, and sanctuary operations and ethics.
