shaer Ocean Mammal Institute (Emily Shaer)

Location:  Hawaii

"I believe I learned more in this class than any I have ever taken. Not only is Dr. Green exceptionally knowledgeable on the topic of humpback whales and underwater noise pollution, but she is passionate about her work, which allowed for me to become passionate as well. I remember being told by Dr. Green that after I work with the whales, they will change my life and she was absolutely right. Humpback whales are astonishing creatures and an essential part of our ocean's ecosystem. If we don't act soon and educate others on their importance, they will no longer be here.

From this experience I feel I have developed the skills needed to become a successful researcher and I will certainly continue to increase awareness on the environmental issues concerning the humpback whale."
