Internships & Careers

bigelow Thordale Shetland Stud - (Anna Bigelow)

"This internship takes place in the Shetland Islands of Scotland, which is one of the most spectacular locations in the world. The farm is near beaches, cliffs, and fun riding tracks. You live in a lovely croft house and are given home- cooked meals with homemade bread and local products. In return for the hospitality, you help in the care and exercise of  breeding horses and other horses. You learn about what qualities to breed for, how to care for foals, how to act around stallions, and so much more. You get to ride Icelandic horses, drive Shetland ponies, and even train some greener horses. If you want to earn more about breeding and horse behavior while going abroad, this internship is a fantastic opportunity. I would recommend it to any animal science student."
