Select Breeders Service, Inc. was founded in 1987 by Paul R. Loomis.  Mr. Loomis earned his MS in Equine Reproduction from Colorado State University in 1982 for his work specializing in stallion semen cryopreservation.  He has published numerous papers on semen freezing, as early as 1982, and has been actively involved in research and commercial application of frozen stallion semen for over 15 years.  From 1982 through 1986 Mr. Loomis was General Manager of Green Hills Farm, Inc., a South Carolina Hannoverian breeding farm, which based its entire breeding program on frozen semen AI.  During that period, more than 120 mares were inseminated with frozen semen which was processed by Mr. Loomis or which was imported from Europe.  This was the single largest commercial breeding program in the United States involving frozen stallion semen.

NOTE:  While their website doesn't mention internships, their local sales rep offered an internship the last time he was here.  For more information about this company, see their website at or see the Animal Science Department internship coordinator, Fran Kinghorn.
