Miner Institute -- Year-Long Equine Internship

Location: Chazy, New York

This is a great opportunity for someone seeking a career in the equine industry who wants more experience while taking time to seek a permanent job in the horse world or apply to graduate schools.  The applicant should be honest, independent, hard-working, and ready to enjoy a fun job!  The responsibilities are great, but so are the rewards.

The intern works closely with the Equine Manager and Director of Research on the management of Miner Institutes's Morgan horse herd.  The Morgans are used in a variety of disciplines - dressage, hunter pleasure, western, saddleseat, and driving.  Responsibilities include the routine chores in the barn, assisting in the training of young stock, breeding farm management - stallion and mare stallion, assisting with the Summer Experience in Equine Management program and other educational clinics and programs.

Compensation is provided and room and partial board are included.  Opportunity to bring your own horse. Health insurance is available after four months.

NOTE:  Generally, interns are chosen from a pool of previous Summer Experience in Equine Management students (another internship possibility), but not always.  Therefore, interested students should contact Karen Lassell to find out the status of the position.
