McQuay Stables McQuay Stables

Location:  Tioga, Texas

McQuay Stables is located in Tioga, Texas, a very small town population of 700. There are three divisions at McQuays. There are reining, hunter/jumper, and breeding programs. McQuay Stables stood the late great Hollywood Dun It, the first 5 million dollar sire in reining. They currently stand 6 stallions, the top being Colonels Smoking Gun "Gunner." Their intern position has no set hours. They work 7 days per week during the breeding season. Some days are lighter than others depending on if it is a breeding day or not, but they do work long hours for those 7 months. There is no experience necessary; they are more looking for hard working motivated individuals.

Interns will be exposed to monitoring mares for foaling, foaling out mares, care of new born foals, collection of stallions, preparing semen for shipment, handling of mares for palpations and embryo flushes/transfers, and administering of medications. Housing is provided on the farm.
