Location:  Cloudcroft, New Mexico
Photo courtesy of the Chacaro website. Chacaro So-Black Arabians and Pintos is a small Arabian and Saddlebred broodmare ranch located in the mountains of southern New Mexico. They produce six foals per year and breed their own mares in cooperation with a local vet., imprinting all of their foals and training them from birth.  The trainer on site is well equipped to teach and contribute to a student's overall understanding of the horse and horsemanship, mare care, and breeding.

Students would help feed and clean stalls, groom, and would assist with conditioning, lounging, and would prepare horses for riding.  During the breeding season the student would assist with breeding the mares and possibly handle the stallions for collections and shipping, take foal watch and deliver the foals, as well as imprint and halter train.

This is a broodmare/breeding facility whose main focus is the mares and the foals -- producing top show quality colorful Pinto HA/NSH babies.   No school horses or outside horses in training are housed at this facility.

An internship at Chacaro is a learning experience that can prepare a student for a breeding facility/ranch management position.  A family-type operation in a serene and peaceful environment seeking students who have a positive attitude and are cooperative.  This internship is an opportunity to learn and grow in skills that should prove very valuable in the future.  Efficiency apartment and modest weekly wage is provided with one day off per week.
