Location:  East Calais, Vermont

Briar Hill Farm is a mid-size and diverse facility located in central Vermont. They breed Norwegian Fjord horses and English Dales ponies. They also train horses of all breeds in riding and driving and occasionally work with "problem" horses.

Interns gain experience in breeding, barn management, handling young horses, grooming and tacking up horses for the trainer, assist starting horses, riding and driving, and working green horses. Students with riding experience may also exercise horses. There are also opportunities to help with showing at the annual Fjord show, local fun shows, or Combined Driving events.

Interns are expected to help with chores and provide hands-on work with horses. Briar Hill offers plenty of assistance and instruction. Their trainer is certified in TTEAM (Linda Tellington-Jones) at the top level and Centered Riding at basic level. She has trained hundreds of horses of all breeds in riding and drivng, teaches and gives clinics throughout the United States and Canada.

Their facilities include 50 acres, several pastures and paddocks, a barn wth 8 box round pen; 100' x 200' outdoor arena, incredible views, endless trails, and country roads to ride on.

Room, board, and a small stipend are included. Without room/board wage is negotiable and based upon experience. Hours are flexible. It is possible to work out board for your horse. Expect to work hard but have fun, too.
