Location:  Driggs, Idaho

This internship is perfect for someone who is interested in learning about the inner workings of a small local shelter. The shelter takes in an average of 500 animals (cats and dogs) a year and has an adoption rate of 98%. Your experience at the shelter will range from learning about basic animal care in a shelter environment (picking up poop) to assisting with their volunteer programs, fund raisers and training of animals. The shelter is open 365 days a year for animal care so you must be willing to work on some weekends and holidays. This internship is a great way to get a lot of experience in many areas of shelter care, medicine and management and is available year round with a maximum of two interns at a time.  Hours are flexible with a minimum of 15 hours per week.  Housing is available for unpaid interns who are at the shelter for less than six weeks. Staff are always happy to help find great affordable housing for internships in the Teton valley area.

Teton Valley Community Animal Shelter is located in Driggs, Idaho (30 minutes from Jackson Hole, Wyoming).  There are lots of year-round activities in the area to keep you entertained. If you are a skier, this is a great way to get college credit, ski in the west, and learn about shelter care and management.
