Location:  Scarsdale, New York

The Greenburgh Nature Center (GNC) is a 33-acred woodland preserve located 40 minutes north of New York City. There are trails, ponds, gardens and outdoor animal exhibits. Their indoor exhibits include a live animal museum, exhibit rooms focusing on nature and the environment, and a greenhouse. They offer two types of internships, a 9-month school year internship and a 3-month summer internship.

The two principle roles of an intern are 1) to teach nature and animal programs and, 2) to assist in the care and maintenance of the Center's animals and their facilities and to present animals to the visiting public. The primary participants in their educational programs and their Animal Museum visits are children between the ages of two and eight. Interns are also expected to help supervise the activities of the high school volunteer who help in their Animal Museum. They provide training for the teaching of their educational programs and the care of the animals.
