Location:  Kanab, UT

Best Friends is the nation's largest sanctuary for abused and abandoned animals. There are never fewer than 1800 dogs, cats and other companion animals living "the good life" at this 3000 acre sanctuary. The animals come from far and wide, but once they are at Best Friends the staff and volunteers make sure that their bad lick turns to good luck, and that they will never again be hungry, sick, alone, or in pain. Most of the animals who are brought to the sanctuary soon go to carefully chosen homes with loving families. But hundreds more are the cats and dogs most people will never take home: outcast, unwanted, lame, too traumatized by past abuses, or too old, handicapped or ill. For these innocent creatures, Best Friends is a special home and haven for the rest of their lives.
