UVM Horse Barn Easter Egg Hunt

2016 Easter Egg Hunt Bake SaleMembers of the Horse Barn Coop, Dressage Team, and EQUUS organized a fun-filled Easter Egg Hunt at the Ellen A Hardacre Equine Center on Sunday, March 20th. Children 10 and under were invited to hunt in the horse stalls for colorful plastic eggs filled with candy or small toys. They also could visit with the horses in the outside paddocks, have their face painted, play in the obstacle course in the indoor arena and do crafts.

Students did a wonderful job planning this event and we look forward to holding it again next year.

A "hands-on" educational opportunity

Horse Barn Cooperative image

The UVM Cooperative Horse Barn is an educational facility in which students have the opportunity to learn skills such as equine management, teamwork and leadership while bringing their horse with them to college.

Membership in the UVM Horse Barn requires a large time commitment as well as a willingness to work with others to achieve the common goal of running the facility in  conjunction with the UVM educational mission. Members of the UVM Horse Barn pay a decreased boarding fee and are responsible for the care of their own horse as well as additional chores and time spent at the barn completing horse watch duties and attending meetings. Students are also largely involved in the management and decision-making processes within the Horse Barn.
