Patricia Erickson Receives 2008 Kroepsch-Maurice Excellence in Teaching Award

Kroepsch-Maurice AwardAnimal Science Lecturer, Patricia Erickson, was presented the 2008 Kroepsch-Maurice Excellence in Teaching Award which recognizes faculty for excellence in instruction including learning experiences outside the traditional classroom. Other areas considered for selection of this award were:  capacity to animate students and engage them in the pursuit of knowledge and understanding; innovation in teaching methods and/or curriculum development; demonstrated commitment to cultural diversity; ability to motivate and challenge students; and evidence of excellent advising. 

Dr. Erickson teaches Companion Animal Care & Management as well as Zoos, Exotics & Endangered Species; Advanced Zoos, Exotics & Endangered Species; and Companion Animal Medicine.  She also team teaches a course in the Dominican Republic entitled Community Empowerment through Grassroots Organization: a Travel Study in AIDs Education and Batey Life in the Dominican Republic and has taught a Wild Candids class during the summer in the Adirondacks.  Dr. Erickson received her DVM from Cornell University and has been teaching in the Animal Science department at UVM for 6 years.
