Alpaca Behavior in Ecuador

Student captures Alpaca behavior while on travel course

Alpaca herdWhile attending a Department of Animal & Veterinary Sciences travel course in Ecuador, a student captured Alpaca behavior on video. Twelve students were enrolled in Ecuador: Boot Camp in Alpaca Husbandry during the 2014-15 winter session. This course permitted students to become accomplished in the principal alpaca husbandry practices through daily work with a large alpaca herd, and placed alpacas, llama and vicuñas in their historical and geographical contexts, and examined their potential as generators of income and environmental services.
