I
teach two equine management and production courses and two equine
technique classes at UVM. All four of these courses incorporate
laboratory experiences emphasizing the “hands-on” approach. In
addition, I am the supervisor of EQUUS,
the cooperative management program taught at the Ellen Hardacre Equine
Center on the UVM campus. I am the faculty advisor to the UVM
Equestrian Team and the UVM Dressage Team.
To enhance their educational
experience,
equine students are encouraged to participate in an internship, design
their
own special projects with school horses and/or engage in undergraduate
research studies. My personal research interest is improving the
storage of fresh-cooled and frozen stallion semen. This work is done in
collaboration with the UVM Morgan
Horse Farm in Weybridge, VT and the W.H. Miner Agricultural
Research Institute in Chazy, NY.
