Graduate Assistantships

The Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences at The University of Vermont (UVM) currently has several graduate assistantship positions available for qualified applicants seeking graduate training leading to an M.S. or Ph.D. degree. These positions will be in the areas of mammary gland biology, lactation physiology, molecular genetics, biotechnology, mastitis, and animal, nutrition and food science.  A joint training opportunity is also available in the area of dairy cow nutrition, behavior, or management with scientists at The William H. Miner Agricultural Research Institute located in Chazy, NY.

Expressions of interest and applications are invited from highly motivated and intellectually creative prospective graduate students. Applicants should preferably hold a B.S. in Animal Science, Biological Science, Dairy Science, or a related field. Applications for graduate study at UVM can be downloaded from the website of the Graduate College (http://www.uvm.edu/~gradcoll). All application materials should be sent to the Graduate College, which will forward them to the Department for review.

Established in 1791, UVM is located in Burlington, Vermont, a small city situated on the shores of Lake Champlain between the Adirondack and Green Mountains. The Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences currently has 17 faculty members, 11 graduate students and approximately 240 undergraduate students in pre-veterinary, equine, and dairy programs.
